How Fashion Influence Student's Lives

This is an era of fashion and fashion is very influential to our lives. In fact, it adds diversity to our lives by offering an aspect of enthusiasm to strive for something new and different, otherwise it would be a monotonous life if we were supposed to dress up and act in the same manner.

Fashion is an expression of a distinctive style particularly in clothing, footwear, accessories or makeup. It belongs to the style of doing something, looking different and dealing with others. It encircles a wide range of categorization like behavior, speech, actions, manners and lifestyle. There is much intellectual discussion over fashion and clothing and their importance within present day society. Fashion and clothing can be defined as many things that hold our society together. Fashion can be defined as an existing norm or style of dress, manners and way of socializing, whereas clothing is defined as garments collectively. If fashion and clothing were eliminated from our lives there would be no room for individuality and the world's population would be the same. There also would be a loss of the distinctions between social classes, which was much defined in the 18th century but is still present today. The eradication of fashion and clothing would also change the dynamics of the social world and social relationships.

Mod, short form of 'modern', refers to a youth lifestyle that came out from London during 1960s and quickly spread to other parts of the world. Being fashionable is not only desirable but also satisfying. It is very usual that the young students get attracted to fashion the most and start following the trends instantly so fashion influences our youth strongly. Fashion continually has an impact on the society. It affects our views and attitude towards social culture. We introduce new ways of lifestyle through fashion and create awareness within ourselves to reinstate a new line of customs. It is a leading social statement for students to make an outside appearance to their social circle. Malcolm Barnard says in his book Fashion as Communication, "Fashion and clothing have always been explained as forms of communication" (39). Students use fashion to exchange their feelings and beliefs. They use fashion as a way of social contact with reference to scrutiny for all sorts of people. Fashion is a way of communication to convey with the world what their personality really says.

The decade of 1920 is called the Age of Flaming Youth because of its wild and jazzy expression. In this period the energy of youth was set free in a new way and no style seemed too ridiculous to become a high fashion. Our world has globalized. Celebrities play very important role in the lives of youth. Students look up to their favorite icons to keep themselves up to date. While watching television or using internet, they can easily be attracted by a variety of fashionable concepts. Moreover, the students idealize their favorite celebrities and they always have a desire to look like them so they do their best to imitate the appearance and lifestyle of their idols. They are trying to grasp all the existing fashion from their society to enhance their personality. Whenever they socialize, they talk about new things which could be adapted. They use non-natural way of expression, speech and mannerism in their routine lives which is relatively artificial.

In my point of view, there are two categories i.e. positive and negative impact of fashion on students.

The fashion in our society has a lot of negative impact on students. They only think about new fashion and this result in spending of a large amount of money. Therefore, they are not able to become aware of other important needs of life. It always distracts them from studies. Once a style or fashion gets in a trend, it is instantly chased by student community regardless of the fact that how much hassle it leads to. On the other hand they are caught in the confusion of fashion due to impact of society. To follow a certain fashion, one has to adopt some actions and to do so some students go beyond their limits just to attract their surroundings. Eventually they become hopeless instead of being ingenious and suffered from depression for being within fashion. On the other hand, it is also a thought that the money spending on Fashion could be spent for various other purposes like charity and helping the poor.

Fashion creates an inaccessible standard for students. They all want to be attractive and glamorous like the celebrities on television or in magazines hence they spend a lot of time and money just to build up a good impression on people around them. However, they fail to make a statement most of the time that leads to a low self esteem. It also creates a clash of thoughts between them and their friends that may lead to jealousy factor and as a result ruin their relationship with friends. Students start judging people by their outlook appearance and those who cannot spend sufficient amount on their outward look, eventually become persecuted which decreased their confidence level to certain extent.

Students who give more concentration to fashion are generally least conscious about their studies. They think that by adopting certain fashion trends, they will achieve certain distinction among the peers therefore they start giving less importance to their academic careers.

There are some positive points of being fashionable as well. For instance, when teenagers feel good because of the way they look, it gives a high sense of worth and confidence in their personalities. Moreover they feel more independent and acceptable in a social context. If students follow a certain trend, it facilitates them to recognize their own personalities by meeting different people from the society with the same interests and sense of style. Wearing trendy clothes shows a person's status. People assume a person more progressive if he is wearing fashionable clothes. Malcolm Barnard says in his book Fashion as Communication, "Fashion and clothing have always been explained as forms of communication"

Students eventually come to know that it's not good for them to follow or imitate others all the time. Instead, they should learn how to be innovative and make their own sense of style. That helps them to be more strong, independent and imaginative. Fashion is the name of expressing oneself. It proves that the people have liberty to feel comfortable about themselves and that results in a more successful and prosperous society.

Fashion is a form of art and because art is beneficial to society so same goes for fashion as well.Fashion is a big reason for companies to invest more into the expansion of latest clothing, trends, and better living. We cannot disagree with the fact that fashion has a significant place on the life of every student. At times, it can be the source of things that make the life more pleasant. On the other hand, it can be destructive for the lives of certain people. So it's better to keep yourself modernized with fashion but if it is damaging your academic performance by any mean, you should keep yourself away from that. Generally, fashion can be entertaining, exciting and harmless. Fashion is a money making method that can provide employment to thousands of people.

There should be stability in the lives of students while pursuing fashion. They should be aware of the fact that the fashion within limits is admirable but when the limits are crossed, they have to face many problems. Their prime responsibility is to fill up themselves with the asset of knowledge instead of running after the wildness of deceptive fashion world. There should be a right balance between being fashionable and getting away from our roots. Students should know the fact that they have maximum time to indulge themselves to the world of lavishness after they completed their studies. So they should give their utmost devotion to education presently for time and tide waits for none.

Being trendy and fashionable is just our own wish, no one can force us to do it and it's our own decision that how much and what type of fashion we prefer according to place and requirement. Though this time of 21st century in Pakistan mostly people are affected by glamorous world and style of fashion but still they have not forgotten our traditions and culture which is the priority and symbol of our country.

The Game Of Basketball As We Age

Ages 5 to 10:
Youth basketball is the spirit of the game. Seeing new kids play the game you love and noticing that that used to be you is an unreal feeling. Kids at this age play because their parents most likely signed them up for it. It is full of travels and fouls and ball hogging but that is all the fun. The referee's joke around with the kids while you have the occasional aggressive parent that takes youth basketball just a little too seriously. The players are more than likely all assigned numbers so that each individual player plays the same amount of time no matter their skill or talent. Some may say this is a problem to teach at the younger stage but youth isn't about winning games because it is about seeing if the kids fall in love with the game. As the years of youth go on, kids either quit or the feeder into travel programs to where they can further gain their basketball expertise.

Ages 11 to 15:
Between middle school and the beginning of high school, these are the players that truly love the game. They have played long enough to where they can decide if they want to step foot onto the court or not. At this age range, basketball officially becomes a sport for them. The kids gain interest in the competitiveness of the game and really learn the building blocks in becoming a great player. AAU starts around this age which can be very positive to a player, or could be very detrimental depending on which specific team the players chooses to be on.

Ages: 16 to 18:
Before this age group, kids all receive arguably the same amount of playing time but this is the time where basketball is not only a sport, but starts to become a job. Between having school work, private training lessons, high school practices, and AAU practice, the kids learn skills that don't involve the actual game itself. They learn commitment. They learn what hard work is. They learn you cannot just roll a basketball on to the court and expect to win. They learn time management and balancing priorities. What they also learn is if they are serious about the game of basketball and the level of which they want to play at. This is the age group that separates those who receive scholarships and those who are just playing to play. Players will either stay after school and work on their own game or they go home and hang on the couch and do not try to improve because maybe they just do not care to advance to a higher level of play.

Ages: 19-22
College basketball is no longer a sport and no longer a game. It is a business and with that business the players each have a job by being on the team. They are required to do certain obstacles and drills that are not meant for the typical player... which is why they were offered to play in the first place. Basketball becomes life at this moment. You either work hard enough to make basketball your potential career path or you can use it to build strong mental and physical stability that will enhance your life post-graduation.

Southern California's Hidden Gems

Many tourists flock to well-known destinations in Southern California like San Diego, Disneyland, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara. These are all great places to visit, but if you're looking for somewhere different that's a bit off the radar, check out the following incredible destinations:

The Channell Islands

My husband and I have lived in California most our lives, but somehow missed these spectacular islands that are classified as one of the U.S. National Parks. After seeing some stunning photos on the Internet, we took a short boat ride to Anacapa Island from Oxnard as part of a weekend anniversary trip.

If you decide to go, be prepared and bring supplies. This trip is for adventurous people in good physical shape. You will need to climb 157 stairs to the top of this rugged little island where there is no food, services, water, or flushing toilets. Now, I HATE outhouses, but I'm telling you - the views of the rocky shoreline, massive cliffs, and jagged peaks were worth it. You can easily hike around the rim of the island in just hours with Inspiration Point a grand reward for your efforts.

We visited in June when bursts of bright wildflowers covered the small island and thousands of adorable baby sea gulls were to be found around every corner. Just beware of their protective mamas who will swoop at your head if you get too close.

We returned a couple of years later and visited the larger Santa Cruz Island for an exciting kayak tour of the historic sea caves. On the boat ride there we saw a whale and two large schools of dolphins. The waters can be rough at certain points, but the caves were amazing. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Some people consider these islands desolate, but if you have an adventurous spirit and love nature, the Channell Islands are considered the Galápagos of North America.

The Huntington Botanical Gardens

This is yet another stunning place that we failed to visit for decades. Located in Pasadena, the magnificent estate is home to more than a dozen spectacular gardens spread across 120 acres. Hard to say which garden is the most dazzling, but the Japanese Garden, the Rose Garden, and the California Garden are a few of my favorites.

We didn't even get a chance to check out the art galleries. The Huntington Art Gallery, houses 18th- and 19th-century British paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts, and includes the famous Blue Boy. And to my shame as a writer, we did not visit The Huntington Library itself, one of the largest and most complete research libraries in the United States.

Next time.

Ventura County Wine Trail

Napa may get all the attention as wine country in California, but my husband and I enjoyed sipping our way through the coastal rolling hills near the seaside town of Ventura. We visited two of the nearly 20 wineries and tasting rooms.

You can book one of the many wine tours offered. However, we decided to get a map and explore on our own. Beginning in Ventura at the junction of Highway 1 and Highway 101, we drove up Highway 33 toward Ojai.

Surprises await on this somewhat lonely but charming road - from the "USA's Smallest Post Office" to the last place anyone saw James Dean alive. Our favorite find was Old Creek Winery which felt like returning to a simpler place and time where friendly folk and dogs welcomed us. We enjoyed our purchased bottle of wine and a picnic outside on tables enjoying the Americana view.

By the way, both Ojai and Ventura are worthwhile stops with charming inns, luxurious spas, and bed & breakfasts along with a wide array of outdoor activities. In the summer time, the Ventura Harbor Village is a hubbub of activity with festivals and live music on the weekends.

Laguna Beach

This charming beach town is located halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego. With over 20 different scenic coves, this beach area offers everything from surfing, paddle-boarding, snorkeling, kayaking, and whale watching excursions.

Just beware, the surf can be rough in places. As a teenager, I decided to body surf despite the churning waters and wiped out on a massive wave (think Beach Boys' song: Heheheheheheee wipe oooout!). Actually, I blame the Beach Boys for this entire mishap since they went and romanticized this whole surfer chick thing with songs I grew up on like Surfer Girl. SO their fault.

However, the scenery can't be beat. Add ultra-chic restaurants and shops and one-of-a-kind art galleries and you get the picture. There's even a Baby Boomer Club with Saturday Night dances. Every summer, they host the Laguna Woodstock where baby boomers party like its 1969.

Heisler Park is a good place to start, located just north of the main beach, with an easy half-mile stroll along a paved path with spectacular views of the coastline and the soothing sound of crashing waves. You can take one of the paths to the beaches and tide pools. Benches, picnic tables, and barbecues abound where you can enjoy the magnificent views. Hubby and I had a picnic on one of the grass areas and it was perfect!

Treasure Island Park is another great spot, located on the grounds of the five-star Montage Laguna Beach, where the truly rich stay. Exquisitely landscaped, several lookout benches line the easy-to-walk winding path. Stairways and ramps lead you down to the beach, where you can walk through a beautiful rock archway during low tide, find a spot in the sand for sunbathing, and a large tide pool. In addition, there is plenty of grass areas for a picnic. I'd suggest bringing some wine and cheese to catch a romantic sunset.

Big Bear Lake

I live in the desert, so nearby Big Bear is a great mountain escape with its gorgeous lake and pristine forests. Boating, fishing, and hiking are just some of the activities in this small, laid-back village.

Last summer, my husband and I cycled around the lake, enjoyed a picnic, zipped down an alpine slide, drove go-karts with speeds up to 30 m.p.h., and took a ride on the scenic sky chair for terrific views. After watching people take the chair lifts to mountain bike down the trails, we put this on our to-do list for next time.

For the adventurous at heart, parasailing and ziplining are also available.

El Matador Beach

Looking for a spectacular shoreline with white sands, towering cliffs, crashing waves, and craggy rock formations in a semi-hidden location?

Look no further than El Matador, located north of Malibu off the winding Pacific Coast Highway. It's easy to miss the small, brown sign pointing toward the small parking lot at the trail-head, so watch carefully between Broad Beach and Decker Canyon Roads. Once you find it, be prepared to hike down a 150-foot bluff with the help of some steep stairs.

Not for small children or those who are physically challenged, but if you can make it down the steps you'll be treated with breathtaking views. The locals know about this beach and you may see some photo shoots taking place - we did!

There is blissfully little to do on this small but glorious stretch of beach, so bring a picnic lunch or some wine and find a hidden nook to enjoy an incredibly romantic setting.

Redondo Beach

By now, you've probably noticed that my husband and I are beach bums. We found this beach on accident while looking for a nearby place to stay the night before flying out of LAX the next morning.

The Redondo Pier is a landmark with panoramic ocean views and water activities that include harbor cruises, seasonal whale watching, kayaks, paddleboards, and pedal boats. Truth be known, we didn't try any of these out, but we loved the views from Tony's on the Pier where we enjoyed Happy Hour!

The pier is also home to a 16-foot great white shark affectionately known as Georgette, on display in a large tank at Shark Attack on the Pier. If you have grandchildren with you or are young at heart, you may enjoy the semi-submersible yellow submarine (darn, now I've got the Beatles song stuck in my head) for underwater viewing of the local sea life.

Sure beats staying at an airport hotel if you're flying to or from Los Angeles.

Catalina Island

This island is more well-known than some of my previous recommendations, but a sentimental favorite. My husband and I spent our honeymoon there 40 years ago and have returned several times. This is a small, quaint island, with no stoplights or fast food restaurants. A typical traffic jam involves two golf carts and a bicycle built for two.

On our honeymoon, we blissfully rode bikes around Avalon, went horseback riding, toured the famous casino, and sunbathed on the small beach. We also took a bus to Two Harbors, the only other village on Catalina Island. Snorkeling, parasailing, fishing, glass bottom boat rides, paddleboarding, Segway tours, golfing, and hiking are other popular activities.

Decades later, we sailed our boat to the island from Long Beach - which turned out to be one wild ride. My husband and grown children returned again for our open-water dives to become scuba-certified amid the famous kelp forests surrounded by the bright orange Garibaldi fish. Next time we visit, I want to try the new zip-line that's 600 feet above sea level with one run that is 1,100 feet long with speeds up to 30 m.p.h. Wheee!

As you can tell, Southern California has so many great places to visit, it's impossible to list them all. But hopefully I've given you some ideas to get you started!

Hollywood Asks - Is Comedy Dead?

The Hollywood writers and producers cannot understand why no one is interested in watching their sit-coms anymore on TV? Well, did it ever occur to them that some of this stuff isn't all that funny anymore? The movie industry's comedy films are also getting killed at the box office. Stand-up comedy is doing OK, but in the new PC world, comedy routines often turn off half of the audience during any given skit, throw in politics and yes, you get some headlines but comedians are divided and conquered. What happened? No, what really happened? Is Hollywood in denial?

Remember the audience is always correct, if they don't like it, it just ain't that good. And, 'if and when' they don't like it, they sure as hell don't want to pay for it, or spend their precious time listening or watching it on TV.

Now then, there was an interesting in article in the Wall Street Journal recently titled; "Comedy Slump Not a Laughing Matter," by Ben Fritz published on June 26, 2018 which stated: "Last year's most successful comedy, "Girl's Trip," took in $117 million in the US and Canada. The last time the year's highest grossing comedy grossed so little was 1995, when ticket costs were 52% less on average."

The article also stated: "Traditional comedies are struggling for oxygen at the box office, caught between superhero sequels that integrate laughs and a vast buffet of stand-up specials, sitcoms, amateur pranks and original films on digital services like Netflix and YouTube."

What I, as a film critic writer, have noticed, is that every sit-com seems to brush up against the PC culture and then quickly back-away, and attack the politically expedient right-side of the equation. Perhaps, this is because the comedy writers all live and work in areas where most everyone has left-leaning political views, and they assume it's funny to everyone, and that if anyone doesn't like the jokes, then they are ignorant, or out of touch with reality.

Perhaps, it is this feedback loop which has now been labeled; the 'Echo Chamber' where conformational bias occurs. Indeed, it hardly matters what it's called or why it keeps happening if no one in Hollywood, late-night comedy notices, because now that audiences have been split in half and every show is catering to the same half of the remaining market, no one is making any money, and audiences, yes, even on the left are getting bored with it all; it's just not funny anymore. And despite popular belief in NYC, LA and DC, our president does not bathe in Cheetos dust. Just sayin'.

Making It Personal, Rather Than Politics!

Many political observers, from casual ones, to those, with a professional discipline in this area (in order to possess, some degree of political and historical perspective), question, why is it, the current period, seems, unlike most in recent memory! This feeling stems from an examination, of a combination of factors, including the tone of the rhetoric/ vitriol, the emphasis on polarizing, instead of unifying, and the oppositional/ adversarial, attitude, where not only do so many individuals, possess their own opinions (which is somewhat normal), but it seems, they believe they are entitled to their own facts, as well, and an unwillingness, to seek a meeting - of - the - minds, and reach some degree of common ground. With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, some examples of the inherent danger, to our nation, when political differences, become, so very personal!

1. Social media: Whichever Social Media, you might use, participate in, or, even, casually review/ read/ peruse, you probably have observed, when it comes to political posts, and perspectives, the discussion, almost always, goes well beyond, a discussion of politics, with various concerns, etc, and, invariably, begins a discussion, which becomes increasingly personal! An individual, on one end of the political spectrum, brings up a point, which he feels is significant, and important, and, those with different views, often go beyond, disagreeing, but begin to call someone, names, or cites, often, examined, and disproven, so - called, facts. Perhaps, because of the polarizing nature of President Donald Trump, and his tendency to quote, anything, which supports his agenda, and disparages, anything and anyone, who disagrees/ differs, his supporters have begun to feel entitled, to proceed, likewise, and are unwilling to maintain, an open - mind. Unless/ until, those on both sides of the spectrum, avoid personal attacks, and stick to the facts, and seek viable, relevant, sustainable solutions, this will probably get worse!

2. Today, versus the past: President Trump uses rhetoric, to inspire and motivate his core supporters, with many references to the past, and how great, many perceive it, to be. When one uses a slogan, Make America Great Again, isn't the inference, we should try to go back, to the past, rather than look ahead, to the future, and the possibilities? Wouldn't it be nice, if our political leaders, behaved more like, Chris Matthews, discussed in his book, about Tip O'Neal, and Ronald Reagan which was, being political foes, during the day, but social friends, with a mutual respect, after - hours?

3. The attack on the Press: This nation was founded on many principles, and freedoms, perhaps, none, more essential and important, than the need, and the right, to a Free Press. When the President refers to the media, as the Enemy of the People, doesn't it go against, the concept of mutual respect, and the right to differ, politically, while respecting the rights of those who you disagree with?

These are only, a few of the current issues, which are keeping our nation, divided, by expanding the personal vitriol, rather than keeping it professional, and issues - oriented. Don't complain about political leaders, but, make them accountable for, their actions, and the level of their rhetoric!

Digital Technology in the Music Industry

Nowadays, teenagers are living constantly surrounded by technology even if the younger generation may not see it, technology has had an impact on the world as a whole. The widespread use of digital technology in the music industry has allowed consumers to reproduce digital versions of copyrighted song inexpensively with the help of many software and websites.

The growth of downloads and exchange of music are held responsible for the decrease of music sales since the end of the 90s. Information and communication technologies, and especially the internet, changed the logic of consumption and the process of producing music.

One of the biggest challenges for the music industry was to deal with the invention of the MP3 file. This file came into life between 1996 and 1999 and since then, piracy became more and more important. The MP3 file enables people to save files on computers and share music with anyone in the world.

Asides this, YouTube which is the third most visited website in the world behind Google and Facebook houses 100 hours of video every minute. One of the major fact to keep in mind is that YouTube is paying artists and music labels. We also have other channels like Vevo.

On April 28, 2003, Apple released the iTunes store. The iTunes store which has more than 500 million users in 119 countries has more than 25 billion songs. Nowadays, artists make most of their money by touring and selling music on iTunes.

Even though digital technology have had bad effects on the music industry, new devices appeared and helped the music industry. These days, the industry is stimulated, thanks to the competition created by Spotify or even SoundCloud which enables to display music and protect copyrights for free or at a very low price.

Entertainment has been a popular tool for over a decade ago with popular musicians at the centre stage with names like 50 Cent born 'Curtis James Jackson, The Notorious B. I. G born Christopher George Latore Wallace, D. M. C born Darryl Mc Daniels, 2Pac born Tupac Shakur, LL Cool J born James Todd Smith and a host of other prominent foreign musicians who have really proved to the world at large what music entails.

They inspire young and upcoming artists on the rudiment of music and on the need to see music as not just a career but as something to relieve the body from stress and to liven the soul. The entertainment industry the captured the mind of the populace by promoting arts and culture and then lifestyle.

Celine Dion
Prominent among whom is Celine Dion, a Canadian Singer who was born on 30th March 1968 into a large family from Charlemagne, Quebec. She first gained international recognition in the 1980s by winning both the 1982 Yamaha world popular song festival and the 1988 Eurovision song contest where she represented Switzerland. She released several English albums along with additional French albums.

Micheal Jackson
Also, we have the American singer Micheal Joseph Jackson, a song writer, dancer, who was one of the most popular entertainers in the world and was the best selling music artist during the year of his death. He was born in August 29, 1958.

Nowadays with the influx of several artists and with modernization, entertainment have taken a new dimension with more of the cinema, open shows, mall entertainment, amusement parks where notable musicians thrills large audience to delectable fun. It has become more of competition these days with all artists trying to live up to expectation in order to capture large audience compared to that of the olden days where competition is at its lowest as artists inspires and instills more of moral in the mind of the audience

In conclusion, the digital technology has impacted greatly on the music industry and given the enormous contribution to the industry, we can deduce amidst its disadvantages that the digital technology has made music reachable to the people at the grassroots at little or no cost thus making them have access to music at any day and at any time.

Out of all the subgenres of reality TV, the documentary subgenre is possibly the most general one. The core difference between documentaries and a documentary series is that while documentaries are every so often constrained to one episode, documentary series span a series in its entireness, following a series of arc-like scripted television. The subgenre would also cover most social experiment shows, where different kinds of interactions are observed just for the sake of a new experiment.

Sony India came up with Indian Idol in 2004 which was an adaptation to the popular international reality show "American Idol". After its success with grown-ups, they came with kids participants in the show which helped the show to gain love by all.

The production team of Endemol India came up with popular reality show Big Brother's Indian version of Bigg Boss and Fear Factor on Sony TV in 2006. It became India's most popular international adapted show after KBC. It was moved to Colors TV making it India's most watched Hindi Television due to its backing on Bigg Boss, Fear Factor competing with the likes of Star Plus and ZEE TV.

Next revolution reality shows in India came with an adaptation of other famous international shows like The Voice India and So You Think You Can Dance on &TV. These shows changed the concept of singing and dance shows on Indian Television. Other popular reality shows based on foreign shows are like MTV Roadies, India's Got Talent etc.

The actual reality of reality shows

It's generally accepted that reality TV is really kind of terrible. What was once considered innovative in the entertainment world, has devolved into unintentional comedies starring the most horrible and awkward people imaginable. Nowadays real is the last thing that strikes you about reality shows. Whether it is a dance show where lesser-known faces of telly world vie for the best dancer tag or the Bigg Boss's house in which racial slurs and catfights are a part of the process to decide winners, much goes into presenting a reality show as real. There is a vast majority of reality television shows that are not 100 percent real, as there is a high degree of manipulation in order to achieve sustained audience attention.

Results are in reality shows mostly controlled by producers/directors. They want to keep audience believe it is random and unpredictable, to convey this most of the time some candidate is told what to do, how to do. They are even told to behave in certain ways. And in the end nobody will show you all things, things will get edited and aired show may be far from actual reality. Reality Television is a genre more of an exact description of the shows themselves. Producer's fake shots and even re-stage dramatic moments that happened when the cameras weren't rolling- pretty much everything is actually plotted and planned out like the normal scripted show. Most of the reality shows still hold a basic level of truth, however, portraying events that really did happen, even if they're acted again for the cameras. These shows feature people living their lives and doing their jobs, even if a lot has been smoothed out of their day-to-day routine in order to edit out the boring bits.

Most of the talent hunt, singing, dancing even in shows based on general knowledge like "Kaun Banega Crorepati" participants has to go through a long struggle. Most of the time voting is absolutely rigged and the winner gets decided as per his or her capability of keeping TRP's high. Most of the contestants of the reality shows, especially the winners, might get disappointed soon after their win, the attention shifts to the winner of the next season. The limelight being taken away from them doesn't agree with many young people. Some contestants might get frustrated as they harbour false hopes that once they win the contest, their future is set for good.

Impact of reality shows on society

New boys & girls who are becoming reality TV celebrity stars does not succeed on talent but use melodrama to always remain in the news. One of the worst effects of their action is on teens who try to emulate their behaviour. All the stunts that are done on these TV shows under organized conditions are copied by the people in reality and resulting in death. Some of the shows where contestants participate to win prizes show them in poor light as they use meanness and greed to outdo each other. The negative traits can manifest themselves in the audiences and create behavioural problems. Liberal doses of abuses are hurled on the shows because the directors think that more and more people will watch them. It is a huge mistake because bad words are caught by teens and kids affecting their personality as well as behaviour. Although kids' reality shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs, Sabse Bada Kalakaar, Junior Masterchef India and many other shows attract the audiences and gains good ratings, it is not advisable to put children under stressful situations in the early years of their lives! Small children have been forced to participate in reality shows, they have wrenched away from all normal activities and thrown into a single-minded devotion to lending their voices to these reality shows. They are compelled to shoot for long hours, sometimes in scorching hot non-air conditioned rooms. Even Parents also pressurise their children to excel on reality shows, small children become victims of a system that fosters and encourages unrealistic ambitions.

Some reality shows show participants taking extreme risks and putting themselves in bizarre or dangerous situations. Since younger children mostly learn through imitation, watching such programmes may put them at risk of physical injury. A study published in the Journal of Experimental Child Psychology indicated that children who viewed high-risk TV programmes increased their self-reported risk-taking behaviour significantly more than children who were exposed to low-risk TV or watched less TV. Reality shows that are focussed on some people and their day-to-day lives are a big nuisance and parents need to draw a line when it comes to children watching such shows. They portray everything in an exaggerated manner which is not at all a reflection of real life. This should be made clear to our children. Reality talent shows, on the other hand, make parents feel that their own children are inadequate.

Prevention from the bad effects of reality shows

First, establish that watching reality shows is not a priority in the family. According to the age and understanding of your child, explain what your family belief systems and values are and that they do not match what is shown on reality TV. Help the child understand the impact such programmes can have and that real life is different from what is projected in a reality show. Have discussions about this in a friendly and non-threatening manner.

Millennials Need To Get Their Finances In Shape

Most millennials are now in there 20s and 30s, beginning a career climb and also the time when you are making major financial decisions. These financial decisions can include home ownership, investment strategies, and family planning. Certainly, you want to try and avoid some of the financial hazards that have transpired in the lives of previous generations.

Financial literacy is seldom taught in school, so if you didn't learn it at home growing up, your first time in the "real world" may get you into some financial distress. Read below to learn some of the top financial tips that will help millennials make smart financial decisions.

Take online money management courses

Because most millennials excel at technology, I would suggest signing up for courses in basic economics, accounting and budgeting. These types of courses can be very affordable and very well delivered by the online professor. I feel this is a very efficient way to update yourself on financial topics that may simplify and improve your financial life.

Build up your retirement savings

Did you know that Wells Fargo revealed that almost 50% of millennials weren't planning for retirement? Make sure you participate in your employer's 401(k) plan, even if you can only afford to contribute the minimum every month.

Make a list of your whole financial picture

I recommend you make a list of everything that is spent each month. After you have digested this information, ask yourself this question. How am I going to pay for all of this? There are also four essential things everyone should know about their finances: income, expenses, assets and liabilities. Having a firm comprehension of these items will help you make sense of your finances. There are many online tools that can help you connect all your accounts - Mint, Quicken just to name a few. I believe this is your first step in improving your finances.

Research passive income opportunities

Most of us work for money all our lives and never really put it to work for us. It is possible to use your job income for passive income from your investments. For example, the IRS says passive income can come from two sources: rental property or a business in which you do not actively participate. Make no mistake; passive income is not about getting something for nothing. It involves a lot of work and is definitely not a "get rich quick" scheme.

Start a savings account

Open up a share account at your credit union even if you can't make regular deposits. You can use this account to put extra money aside for your short term and even long-term goals. This can also be used as your emergency fund. Shoot for 3-12 months of expenses, put aside for emergencies.

Pay yourself first

Once you have money in your hand from your paycheck, IRS refund, etc. always pay yourself first. Arrange for automatic transfers from your checking account directly to your share account every payday or on a monthly basis.

Do you know the impact of your credit score?

Everyone, but especially entrepreneurial millennials need to understand that their personal credit can be the defining factor in getting working capital in the future. Getting approved for a loan can be very challenging when your credit score is low. Learn how to read your credit report and check it frequently.

Reduce your debt faster

Pay off small debts first and gradually tackle the larger ones. This will allow you to see results and stay motivated.

Enlist the assistance of a trusted mentor

There is an overabundance of information online regarding financial literacy. However, picking the brain of someone you know and trust is better. Their insights are often tailor-made to your specific needs.

Remove extra costs

It is a proven fact that millennials have expensive habits ($5 lattes every day, eating out on a regular basis, designer fashions, etc.). Keep a close eye on your expenses and trim them where you can.

Raise your children to be financially savvy

At this point you may already have young children or planning to start a family. Teach them that saving money is essential. When they are old enough take them to your credit union and help them open up their own accounts. This will hopefully excite them to continue saving their own money.

I hope you use these financial tips to keep your finances on track while you are young. Remember, you have a very bright financial future ahead of you if you start now and stick with it!

Fashion Trends That Men Should Try

Unlike women, men are a bit more sheepish when it comes to trends and fashion. Actually, men tend to cling to timeless fashion, like ripped jeans and monochromatic clothes. But it doesn't mean they are not paying attention to fashion or slowly trying (is that a Yeezy or Adidas NMD, I see?). So without further ado, here are some fashion trends men should at least try this year.

Colored clothes

This one could a bit tough to handle for some guys who have been accustomed to wearing black, white and gray. It can intimidating to wear colored clothes. There's a stigma that you are overreaching in terms of fashion, or generally will look like a rainbow. But the trick here is gradually include colored clothes in your wardrobe. A colored tie here and there, a magenta shirt then combine it with darks you love. This will make you feel more comfortable, and sooner or later you'll be able to wear more colorful clothes.

Retro sports wear

There's a common trend in fashion-it comes back at certain periods. However, this time it's different. Even if retro fashion comes back, it has been updated for more modern times. Case in point, retro sportswear. Giant brands like Fila, Adidas and Tommy Hilfiger have tossed their hats in the trend, and worked wonders for their respective sales.

It can work for a guy's wardrobe as well. There's nothing like wearing a blast from the past with a modern bang. Just as effective as a modern shoe or apparel, but with that classic appeal everyone seems to love nowadays. Can you wear it outside the gym or after your training session? Most are made for that purpose as well, which means our nest topic is...

Athleisure

Speaking of sportswear, that's another fashion men should invest in. Now referred to as 'Athleisure', sportswear has been transformed into a lifestyle-sports apparel hybrid. Long gone are the baggy sweats and the high-cut, stiff shoes. Brands like Adidas, are at the forefront of Athleisure wear, churning out shoes and apparel that are good enough for every day wear (even for the catwalk, actually) as well as technologically-advanced and comfortable enough to be used for sports and training. It's rare to get the best of both worlds nowadays, so guys should make the most of the opportunity.

Vertical Stripes

Solid primary colors are nice in all-for shirts, pants and suits. But you have to live a little dangerously. While that seems like too much of an exaggeration, after all, you are going to wear stripped clothes, not just off a cliff. Most guys feel wearing vertical stripes is similar to jumping off a fashion cliff. Truth be told though, vertical stripes make any men look better, regardless of their body shape and appearance. You can choose the thickness of the stripes to emphasize effects.

Finally, remember that whatever the trend you wear, wear it with confidence. And that's half of the job done.

Although most personal trainers will be well qualified and able to help you out, there will be some who see it as an easy job and are more interested in meeting people than helping them get fit. To make sure you only work with someone who has your best interest at heart, here are some tips to help you weed out the less than desirable ones. If you want a trainer who is dedicated, well-trained and able to build a good relationship, ask yourself "do they care" and if you can say yes, then start your sessions.

How to Know Who to Choose

  • Are they vain? They should be watching what you do not looking at themselves in the mirror. If you are the focus of attention then you will be fine.
  • Do you feel inspired? If you want to hear their advice and act upon it then you should be fine. If he looks like he works out and eats well, then he knows what he is talking about.
  • Do you feel like you are spending time with a friend when you meet? If this is the case it will be hard to get the most from the session. You are there for a purpose and that is to get fit not have a chat.

While all items in the gym will be useful for some, there are certain pieces that have no place in the program of a personal trainer. The treadmill may be great for cardio work, but you can do that at another stage, not while you are paying someone to train you. You should get everything you can from the trainer and if you are exercising without their input you don't really need them.

Track Your Progress

In each session, you should be shown your progress. If this does not happen, how do you know if they are helping you? If it is too much trouble for your personal trainer to keep a record for you, can you trust them? You are not going to know if you are improving and they cannot have much confidence in their own ability. When you come in, you should be working from start to finish. The first thing should be the discussion about the day's session, and what you will do. If they have not got a plan, then what are you paying them for? The plan should be detailed - even determining when you have a rest.

The Extras

A personal trainer should not just be looking at the time you spend together. It may help them financially to keep you tied to them, but they should be looking at helping you after the sessions have finished. If you are working with someone who is planning an exit strategy once you near your goal, ditch them. You want someone to steer you to the right path and help you stay there. This does not mean you always should stay with them, just that they should help you fly not push you off the branch.

Do and Don'ts in Thailand

Do remember the following things:

1) Always be respectful

Always be respectful towards the locals, monks or Buddha images. You can end up in jail if you try being disrespectful towards Buddha images as they are sacred in Thailand.

2) Dress in a proper way

I know, it's hot and humid. Especially, for women, you would rather walk with your shorts and tank tops. However, that is not a very good idea if you are planning to visit temples or sacred places. At the very least, try to cover your knees and shoulders.Remember, this simple act shows that you respect the culture of the country.

3) Do lower your body slightly

It is again having to do with being respectful. As you can see respect is a huge thing in most Asian countries.

4) Do take off your shoes

Don't forget to take off your shoes when you are entering someone's house or building which has a Buddha image within.

5) Try to learn some of the basic phrases at least

It won't be that hard to know how to say hello. Men say "Sawatdee-krap" and women say "Sawatdee-kah". Try to recognise the "wai" gesture. You as a foreigner are not expected to initiate the "wai" gesture, but if someone offers it first to you, try to return it back. However, never return a "wai" to a child, waiter, clerk, etc. Simply nod and smile in response.

The followings are not advisable in Thailand:

1) Never be disrespectful

Do not show any disrespect towards the locals, the royal family, monks, just never towards anybody.

2) Never try to touch the head

It is a very disrespectful act, even if you mean it as a joke. Head is sacred in Thailand.

3) Never cross your legs

Especially in front of elderly or monks do not cross your legs. It applies whether you are sitting on the floor or in a chair.

4) Never pass anything with your left hand.

Also, never point with your hand and never, never with one finger.

5) Try not to be so affectionate in Public

It is a taboo to touch the opposite sex in Public. Please refrain yourself from being too intimate or affectionate towards your partner in public.

6) Do not, I repeat, do not touch a woman publicly without her consent

As I have mentioned before, touching the opposite sex is still a taboo in Thailand. A lot of people in Thailand still believe that a woman can lose her face if she is being touched publicly.

7) Don't take Buddha images out of the country

Unless you get special permission, it is strictly against the law to bring Buddha images out of the country. Of course, you can easily buy them there, but try to avoid unnecessary problem.

However, these are only some general things that you need to be aware of when you are in Thailand. I hope these do's and don'ts can help you in some ways. Enjoy your stay in Thailand!

3 Budget Tips On Finding A Vacation Home

Spending time in a comfortable holiday home can be extremely relaxing and refreshing. Moreover, if you can stay at a beautiful vacation home without overstretching your budget, there is nothing like it. This article explains how you can achieve a harmonious balance between the two. Follow these three simple tips to get your dream holiday home within your budget.

Do your research

Research is very important if you want to get a beautiful vacation house within budget. Since actually going out into the field and doing a survey from the ground up would take a lot of time, the Internet is a good place to start. You will find several tourist sites, social media pages and discussion blogs where tourists review and rate various aspects of their holiday homes. This will give you a fair idea of which features of a vacation home appeal the most to visitors. In this way, you will know which aspects of the house should be high on your priority list. You will also get to know the areas and neighborhoods where the most beautiful homes are available.

The research will also show various agents and property knowledgeable dealers with insight into the market and know whom you can approach with your query.

Trial the vacation house first

At first glance, every house will look like the perfect investment. However, do not get fooled. Photographers and editors work meticulously by choosing camera angles, lighting and even photo editing tools when publishing photographs of holiday homes in travel magazines and brochures. Take the sensible route and visit the house several times before settling on it. The house should be comfortable and exciting enough to make you want to visit the place regularly and to commit to it long-term. Remember that once you have made the investment, it will be difficult to offload the property, and you may not have the time to do that. Make sure that you are comfortable with the location, amenities, neighborhood, scenery, and structure of the house before making the purchase.

New houses last longer

The design of vacation houses is to be beautiful and aesthetic. However, not all of this beauty comes without effort. A lot of effort goes into the upkeep and maintenance of the house. If you want to avoid this hassle, in the end, opt for a newer property since an older house will pose more frequent maintenance issues.

Moreover, if you plan to rent out your property, you will need to make frequent repairs and upgrades to keep your property hot on the property market. This involves making plumbing and electrical repairs, upgrading the fittings, landscaping the lawns, and regular maintenance. Be prepared to invest the time and money into this effort to continue to enjoy the benefits of your holiday home.

A beautiful vacation home comes with its own set of expenses but does not necessarily have to cost an arm and a leg. Being ready with the correct information and realistic expectations, you can certainly find the holiday home for the price you are willing to pay.
