5 Reasons to use Resistance Bands

In the world of sport and exercise, you soon realize that success in these areas starts with consistency. If you want to see results from the exercises that you do or the sport you play you have to be consistent. That means not skipping out on training. With the jet-set lifestyle, we live nowadays it makes it hard to keep to any training plan. We can't carry our gym equipment around with us when traveling and there isn't always a gym available in some cases. That brings us to the first great reason for using them.

Reason #1:

Resistance bands are lightweight and can easily be pushed into a travel bag or even hand luggage. This means we can carry them when traveling. They are also very flexible and can be squeezed into any free space, so long as there are no sharp items to damage them.

Reason #2:

The intensity of a training session with resistance bands is limited only to your imagination. If it feels too easy you can increase the number of resistance bands you use. Almost every exercise that is performed and the way you set the resistance bands will cause you to engage your core muscles which will strengthen them.

Reason #3:

When using weights, you are always aware of gravity. The more weight that is lifted increases the risk in gravity winning that rep. When fatigue sets in and the weights are in an elevated position, gravity wins again. To work safely with weights it is a good practice to have a spotter. With resistance bands, gravity is far less a factor. If the resistance of the band is too great you can stop without gravity winning. A spotter is not a requirement when using this item.

Reason #4:

The environment that is needed has very little limits. The limit would be that you need somewhere to attach the bands on to something secure. This isn't for all exercises but there are many that you do need to attach one end of the band to a secure anchor. If there is a doorway with a door that closes your problem is solved. Another item you can attach the band to is a pole. The resistance band is extremely versatile. In almost any environment you can do; warm-up exercises, muscle resistance training, plyometric exercises, and cardio.

Reason #5:

They are comparatively inexpensive compared to weights. When using weights, if you want to increase the resistance, more weight must be purchased. With resistance bands, you can use a number of ways to increase the resistance. It's more economical to buy an extra band than to buy an extra weight. With a band, you can shorten the band to increase resistance or stand further away from the anchor point. Once again you are only limited by your own imagination.

These are 5 great reasons for trying resistance bands out. The versatility of this item makes it very popular for professionals and beginners in the sporting and exercise fields.

How Does Music Affect Your Mind and Body?

Music is not just a set of sounds and rhythms. Its influence on the brain is much deeper than any other human experience. Keep on reading to know all truly enigmatic powers of music.

Music helps preterm babies

Preterm babies appear to experience less pain and feed more when listening to music, a recent study suggests. Experts led by Dr. Manoj Kumar of the University of Alberta, Canada, analyzed nine clinical trials and found that music had a beneficial effect on lessening pain for preterm babies undergoing painful procedures such as heel prick blood tests. It also appeared to benefit full-term babies during operations.

Premature infants have to stay longer under medical supervision to gain weight and get stronger. To accelerate this process, many hospitals fall back on calm, pleasant music. Canadian scientists discovered that music reduces pain sensitivity and improves the sucking reflex in such babies, contributing to the weight gain. Music is also a good way to get newborns off to sleep.

Music helps to recover from brain injuries

Many people experienced cerebral damage have speech and movement-related problems. As an alternative and effective treatment, doctors often recommend such patients to listen to good music to stimulate the parts of the brain responsible for these two functions. When people with neurological disorders caused by a stroke or Parkinson's disease hear a musical beat, it helps them to regain a symmetrical walk and sense of equilibrium.

Music staves off the loss of hearing

Surely, music will not cure deafness but it really can prevent the loss of hearing. There was an experiment involving 163 people where 74 were musicians.

Participants were asked to pass some listening tests. Musicians heard the sounds better than non-musicians, and this difference gets more evident with aging. This means that a 70-year-old musician hears better than a 50-year-old non-musician, even in a noisy environment.

Music heals a broken heart

No, it is not about a cast-off love, but about a heart attack. The matter is music can help people recovering from a heart seizure or cardiac surgery by reducing blood pressure, slowing down the heartbeat rate, and relieving anxiety. Listening to the quality music evokes positive emotions, improves circulation, and expands blood vessels, thus, promoting quick rehabilitation of the whole cardiovascular system.

Use the power of upbeat songs you associate with positive memories, preferably from your more distant past when you felt safe, on top of your game, and happy. Avoid songs that even remotely pull you into the emotions of your breakup. Train your brain out of its funk by listening often and with intent.

Why Has Our Politics Become So PARTISAN?

Although, there has always been, some degree of partisanship, when it comes to American politics, in recent times, we must wonder, and consider, why has our politics, become, so increasingly, PARTISAN? In the past, politicians disagreed, argued, and perceived things differently, but, in the vast majority of instances, sought, to seek, a meeting - of - the - minds, for the common good, which seems lacking, these days! Chris Matthews' first book discussed, how, Speaker of the House, O'Neill, and President Reagan, who were on nearly opposite poles of the political spectrum, remained, friends, despite these differences, which permitted the possibility of making a deal, for the sake of the nation. We seem to be witnessing, today, a period, where this disagreement, has become personal, as well as political, and, instead of the usual empty rhetoric and promises, has brought with it, a polarizing, negative, vitriol, which appears to make common ground, nearly unachievable. With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, how this impacts us, and why we need a return, to open discussions, and some possibility of bi - partisan, compromise.

1. Priorities; policy; public: Although many will always disagree, there should be certain, basic priorities, which they can agree on. These should be based on strengthening the freedoms, rights, and liberties, mentioned, implied, and, supposedly, guaranteed, by our Constitution. Unfortunately, even in these areas, the unprecedented, vitriol, and appeal to the, us versus them, mindset, has made, achieving necessary, quality public policy, nearly unachievable!

2. Attitude; aptitude; attention: We need leader, with a true, positive, can - do, attitude, who seek solutions, rather than making empty promises! Our President, is reported, to be unwilling, and not ready to, develop the aptitude, and skill - set, which might make him better equipped! Beware of, where a politician dedicates most of his attention!

3. Relevant; realistic; rationale/ reasoning: We should be concerned, when over one - third of the American public, supports someone, who proudly proceeds, with the slogan, Make America Great Again, rather than seeking a relevant, realistic approach, and viable solution! Examine someone's rationale, in explaining their reasoning, and focus upon, whether it is in the best interests of all Americans!

4. Timely; true; trends: Beware of the good old days, approach, because times change, and we need leaders, willing to evolve, with an open - mind, and the strength to introduce timely plans, and proposals! When fact - checkers proclaim, our President has made significant misstatements, over six times, per day, rather than articulating a true, focused message, and taking advantage of significant trends, our system needs fixing!

5. Ideas; ideology; imagination; integrity: This is the time for quality ideas, which align with the core ideology, which America has always represented! Rather than electing the same - old, same - old, politicians, we need to be led, by people, with relevant imagination, and a commitment to absolute integrity!

6. Service; system; sustainable solutions: Unless/ until, our leaders emphasize service to those they represent, rather than merely, their own personal/ political agenda, and self - interest, we will challenged, to proceed, with a system, which will bring forth, a truly, sustainable solution!

7. Articulate: Often, the difference between, moving forward, and lackluster leadership, is electing individuals, who articulate a positive, unifying message, rather than a polarizing, adversarial one!

8. Needs: Our priority should be addressing the real and perceived needs, of our citizens, in a way, where we guarantee freedom, liberty, and justice for all, while addressing economic, security, etc, at the same time!

Enough of this PARTISAN bickering, and let's try, to see the perspective of those we disagree with, and seek, a meeting - of - the - minds, for the common good! Will you pay closer attention, before our level of bickering, further injures our society?

Mortgages - The Best Time to Finance

If you have already decided to purchase a home and you don't have the luxury of waiting for a market change, your lending rate will in large part depend on the market. If you have time to decide when to jump into the mortgage market, then research mortgage rate forecasts for the next year. If rates are expected to increase you may want to submit an application quickly, if rates are moving down you can wait.

Of course your credit rating will be another relatively fixed variable in your quest to get the best rate, if it's relatively low you will pay a higher rate. So if you have time before you need to borrow attempt some credit repair through one of the better known repair firms. It usually takes a few months for them to make a difference but the points they gain could save you significantly over the term of your loan.

It's common sense to shop around for the best mortgage rate and terms and negotiate with mortgage lenders until you are satisfied that you have been quoted the best available rate. So, you can go through whatever expedited process you want, you need to establish to best rate and terms before you zoom through to closing.

Mortgage companies may lock in your interest rate once you apply and are approved but if rates are too often changing they may not offer you an opportunity to lock the rate.

As an appraiser and I understand how important your valuation is. If you have problems with the appraisal the rest of the transaction can just fall apart. Address valuation issues before you bother with loan commitments, if the property you want to finance won't appraise as high as expected you may be wasting your time.

If you do get a commitment of any kind from a mortgage company make sure you get a copy of it, some mortgage companies have gone to on-screen signature documents that disappear once you have electronically signed them. The document you need may disappear when the mortgage lender no longer want to honor them at closing, it's happened to me, so you better have a "screen print" copy before your disappears into the ozone.

Historically mortgage rate have varied between 3.0% and 18.0% and at the moment, in early 2018, the 30-year fixed mortgage rate is near 4%. So we have current mortgage interest rates that are near the low-end of the mortgage interest rate range and if you wait no guarantee exists that they will remain low indefinitely.

If you take the time to make sure the home you want to borrow on will appraise near your expectations, that you are in the best credit position to borrow, you have shopped for the best available rate / terms and considered timing you will get a lot more for your money.

Getting Your Credit Score to Work For You

This is a topic for those of you who often deal with credit cards or for the process of repayment and other loans.

Here will be discussed some things that are very important to know by you as the customers because it will relate to the future.

Nowadays it is not taboo if someone will try another credit after he has paid off the credit he already had.

But the question is, does what you propose will be easily accepted by the lender? On the other hand, if you have a good credit history then this will not be a problem.

Because your track record will be archived at the underwriter when you will use the services.

Thus this credit report will provide feedback to prospective lenders whether your submission is accepted or on a decline as well as a basis to provide interest on your loan.

From here the assessment will be done and the results are concluded.

Any data of yourself as a credit customer will have a value as a reference of the guarantor in providing assistance again at a later time.

The function of credit score here is certainly very clear. For lenders will greatly assist the survey process and the amount of loan to be approved.

Likewise, for the recipients of the loan (the customer), the credit score will assist in obtaining wider access to the lender by relying on their own financial reputation without having to depend on the ability to provide collateral.

For lenders, there will be certain criteria that become standard. The following are the credit scoring criteria determined by one of the banks.

  • Age
  • Place of Work (business field)
  • Number of self-financing
  • Marital status
  • Working period
  • Relationship with the bank
  • The number of dependents
  • Types of loan collateral
  • The husband/wife profession
  • Net income
  • Current credit status
  • Educational status
  • Other Income
  • Credit/debit card ownership
  • Job title

Any information from the above criteria has different weights. Important information such as the accuracy of your loan payments will have a higher value weight than others.

Like the previously mentioned credit score function, the credit score will help the bank determine whether your loan is approved or not, and also can determine the amount of loan you will get, how many terms you get and how much interest the loan will be.

If your credit score turns out to be small, you may still be able to get a loan but with higher interest, or you are required to provide collateral.

Have you had a bad history regarding this credit score? Don't worry, we will review how to improve your credit score.

How to Increase Your Credit Score

1. Use Credit Cards Regularly

The great effect on your credit score level is the credit card.

So do not be surprised if you want to borrow or purchase on credit, the lender will ask if you are a credit card user or not.

The credit card itself is ideally a substitute for cash as a means of payment. So, if you never use your credit card, then there will be no data recorded in the bank.

You can use credit cards for payments, especially expensive items, such as airfare and hotel payments, or buying electronic goods.

After that, use a credit card for a smaller payment like eating in a restaurant. It can improve your credit reputation slowly.

2. Avoid Delinquent Credit Card Bills

In the use of credit cards, delinquent bills are strictly prohibited. The level of customer credit collectibility is one-way banks assess the quality of a person's credit.

This level is divided into five criteria, ie smooth payments, special attention payments, substandard, doubtful, and bad credit.

Advice for you as a credit card user, try to pay monthly bills of 10% first. But if you are able to pay the full course would be better to avoid the high interest every month.

As with loan installments, make the same effort to pay 10% of the initial bill and pay as many bills on time as possible.

3. Reapply When Your Credit Approval is Rejected

When your loan or credit card submission process is denied, give the waiting period a few months before re-submitting.

During this waiting period, you can check what is wrong with you as a customer.

For example, you have applied for credit of more than 30% of income, or you still have other repayment responsibilities. Try to focus to pay off all your debts first.

Then after that, you can apply for credit card with low limit first. This can be seen as a positive indication to the bank that you are a trustworthy debtor that can help improve your credit score.

Conclusion

Remember that credit cards are just an alternative way of a payment process and not necessarily a habit. And even if you really need to use the credit system over and over again, it's not a problem either. Keep your good credit score, a commitment to it, and consistently to live it. The higher your credit score the faster your credit application will be.

Are There Too Many Pressures on Kids These Days?

Are you one of those people who say, 'I'd give anything to be young again?' But, on reflection, would you really? Maybe knowing what you know now and going back in time would be an enticing option, but I'm guessing that a reasonable percentage of us would dread having to face the many pressures on the young these days.

School teachers are noting that even the 'jocks', the sporty, super-fit boys, are experiencing a higher incidence of mental health related issues; food issues, body dysmorphia, depression and suicidal tendencies are increasingly prevalent.

- Peer pressure, whether real or perceived is everywhere and from an early age. Wearing the 'right' brands, having the latest technology, fitting in with the correct look, can make all the difference to being accepted by others or not. It's often only as we get older that we aspire to be different, relish having a quirky or eccentric look, but often younger people don't have the confidence or self-assurance to not care about fitting in as neatly as possible.

- Parental pressure can be self-imposed. There may be guilt about working hard enough and doing well after seeing the struggles that our parents went through, the sacrifices they made in order for us to have the opportunities they missed. Some parents may have worked long hours, or battled alone as a single parent so that their children didn't have to do without. Or there may be a 'golden' sibling and the pressure to match their results is an unspoken reminder of what could be achieved.

- Or there are those parents who live vicariously through their children, pushing them to live the life they never had, hot-housing their talents from a young age, dedicating themselves to ensuring their children achieved the success denied them. Finding the balance between encouraging your children to be active, motivated, make something of themselves, handle disappointments and failure rather than forcing them to do something they don't want to do can be a challenge. Even hobbies are often areas where there's added pressure, needing to excel at football, dancing rather than just having fun!

- Many young people have confusion about what they want to do with their lives, which career would suit them best and yet decisions influencing the rest of their lives have to be made at a very young age. Which subjects to study, which to drop, which interests to pursue can all have significant implications in later years.

- Studying and passing exams occupies a lot of time, thought and energy for young people, considerably adding to the many pressures they face. University is a focus for many and whilst university can be seen as a rite of passage it's not the only option or even the best one for everyone. Studying something you may be uncertain about, may never use, whilst running up massive amounts of debt can add to the pressure already being experienced by them.

Taking a gap year to consider your thoughts and dreams can be a viable use of some time and teach important life skills along the way. Another option can be to ease the pressure by going to college to learn a skill or trade or joining an apprenticeship scheme. Undertaking education in a more 'hands on', less academic way can feel more relevant to everyday life. It can help identify your specific skill sets, those talents and areas you could develop in the future and is an effective way to introduce young people to a real work situation.

It may initially feel like failure if you don't get into university but not going may be a blessing in disguise. Often when one door closes another one opens. That new door may offer a route into a satisfying career, starting your own business, following a path you may have never previously considered.

- When things don't work out as planned it can help to find someone to talk things through with. If you can't or won't talk to parents or family find a mentor, teacher or even a peer group where you feel comfortable sharing your fears, concerns and emotions. Keep those channels of communication open and discuss your feelings openly and honestly. Listen, share and learn.

Talk things through with people who understand what it's like to have once felt a failure, in despair, lost. Remind yourself of the many thousands of successful people who didn't attend university or even college, who were rejected countless times and yet went on to become award-winning writers, film directors, business people, superstars.

- You're not defined by your exam results. Failure happens when you fall and refuse to get up again. I'm guessing that when you were first learning to walk you fell over multiple times, but those falls didn't put you off persevering, and now you're able to walk and even run. A successful life is about taking some knocks and treating them as lessons along the way, a guide to trying a different direction, one that's better suited to you and where you want to go.

Have a fallback position in reserve. Establish a Plan B so that all your eggs aren't in the one basket. When you've other options, no matter how unlikely they seem, you'll feel that you've reclaimed some power, a sense of still being in control. And it's a relief, very liberating to feel somewhat in charge of your own life, not following a pre-determined path. It can be both scary and exhilarating at the same time! This way any pressure is genuinely your own!

4 Helpful Cosplay Tips for Beginners

Cosplay can seem a little intimidating for those just starting out, especially if planning to attend a convention. Dressing up to match the look of a favorite character from a comic book, anime, television series, movie or video game is now a very enjoyable pastime for more and more people every year. But the process of choosing the right outfit needs to be carefully chosen for the most enjoyable experience.

Let's take a look at a few useful tips for beginners:

Carefully choose the outfit

The best type of outfit to wear at a convention has the ability to naturally complement your build and looks. However, with such a varied range of characters to get inspired by, there is certain to be an outfit that can fit virtually all sizes and shapes. Also, if you are planning to create the outfit, it helps to match your sewing skills to what you intend to make. For instance, there are plenty of outfits that involved catsuits and leotards which are mostly easy to accessorize to achieve the desired look of a favorite character.

Pack your gear wisely

A big and bulky outfit can easily get crushed or damaged while traveling to a convention. Therefore, it is essential to go with an outfit that is easy to travel with if planning a long-distant journey. Any armor or large pieces should give the option to reduce the size or fold to ensure everything fits in a vehicle. For the complete beginner one of the easiest options is likely to be the zentai suits or a similar style of outfit.

Use outfits with light materials

Some of the most impressive outfits are large creations, but they often make use of plenty of thick and bulky materials. This can leave the person wearing the outfit hot, sweaty and tired even after a short period. If you plan to visit a convention in the summer, make sure to pick an outfit with light materials that will go well with the temperature.

Using face or body paint

The use of face or body paint is a common mistake that many new to cosplay make. Most of the paints don't last that long and will soon start to run and look quite streaky, as well as clogging up the pores. Alternatively, one of the zentai suits or nylon stockings can be painted to create the desired look. Also, face powder can be applied to create a lighter look that is less likely to run.

How To Choose Soccer Cleats

Soccer is a game played by thousands and loved by millions. Every soccer professional chooses their cleats according to their requirement and condition of the ground. If proper cleats are not worn by the player it may prove to be a big disadvantage on his side because cleats provide proper grip and adhesion towards the ground. Soccer cleats are chosen on the basis of various factors, some of them are as follows-

1. ACCORDING TO THE PLAYGROUND SURFACE- If the condition of a ground is rough and not too soft then the player should use firm ground cleats with 12 to 15 studs in other to maintain friction and allow flexibility. Studs come in different shapes like conical, blade-shaped, etc. But if the ground surface is wet and muddy, then the player should go for soft surface cleats, so that the stickiness of ground does not restrict friction and provides sufficient traction. However, in soft surface cleats, the number of studs is 6-7, structured ideally. And, for hard and rocky ground surface the cleats having flat studs are preferred as they provide maximum grip to maintain balance on the hard surface.

2. ACCORDING TO THE MATERIAL- Soccer cleats are made from various types of materials like from kangaroo leather, goat leather, synthetic material, mesh, etc. Each one has its own advantage and disadvantage. The cleats made from kangaroo leather are usually preferred as they provide great comfort to your feet and are quite durable. But they are very heavy and expensive so you can also opt for goat leather cleats as they are less expensive and provide the same comfort, but are as heavy as the former one. Cleats made from synthetic material is used widely because they are light weighing and cheap, but they are not suitable for all the weather and are not durable as kangaroo leather cleats. Many companies have started manufacturing artificial leather cleats having water resistant quality and durability.

3. ACCORDING TO THE COMFORT- Selecting right cleat could be a challenging task as the main priority is the comfort. Cleats should not be too small or too wide. They should fit properly and not hurt your toes resulting in blisters. Choose the cleats that can balance your back and forth movements. Your cleats must have a large strike zone so can easily kick the ball. The insoles in cleats should be soft and bouncy enough.

4. ACCORDING TO THE BUDGET- The price of cleats differs from company to the company offering different types of quality and material. The quality of cleats is classified as top-tier cleats, mid-tier cleats, and low-tier cleats. The professional soccer player chose top-tier cleats as they are manufactured to cater the demands of the player. They are very expensive and cost around 100$-500$ depending on the manufacturing company. The mid-tier cleats are in great demand as they are available at reasonable prices and are as durable as top-tier cleats. The low-tier cleats are for the beginner. They are cheap and of inferior quality.

This game can be taken as a war between the moms who have brought their children to the beach.
